Prayer 005

Lord I thank you for allowing me to see another day. I thank you for your endless love, protection and for meeting my every need. I thank you for watching over my family near and far. Lord I ask that my daily walk be one that is pleasing to you. I pray that the words of my mouth and meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight. I pray that every step I take will be steps that are patterned by you. Help me to show your love in everything I do. Father place a desire for you in every heart that doesn’t know you. Lord be with those who have lost loved ones, jobs, and don’t know where to turn. Let them know they can turn to you, they can call on you because you care for every soul.
Father I ask that you be with Amanda who lost her baby and is also going through chemo. Lord you said you would put no more on us than we can bear so I ask that you show yourself strong in her and her families life. Lord we know that you are a healer and deliverer,a comforter, protector, and provider. We know that you are well able to take care of every situation and there is no situation to hard for you. Lord we trust and believe in you and your healing power. We trust and believe that anything we ask of you in faith and without wavering you will answer and respond to. We know you have our best interest at heart because you love us. Thank you father for loving us. Thank you father for hearing us when we call on you. Thank you for being the rock we can lean and rely on.

In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Thirst (pg 2)

Then the woman left her water jar and went away to the town. And she began telling the people. John 4:28

He knows everything I ever did……

The things I never told anyone
The things I’m most ashamed of
The things I thought were well hidden
Everything,
He knows it all
My desires, my hopes, dreams, and heart
And still He offers me keys
Keys to life
Keys to Love
Keys to the Kingdom
Who but God could take my faults and weaknesses and use it for His glory?
Who but God could use my most embarrassing and painful moments as an
Opportunity to witness to someone else

Come, see a Man Who has told me everything that I ever did! Can this be [is not this] the Christ…John 4:29

Dreamer

Today is a historic and overwhelming day as many anxiously await the transition of power from our former president to our newly elected. Somewhere in that crowd my daughter stands united with many who never believed this day would come.

This day brings to life the power of a dreamer covered in prayer. For African Americans it speaks to President Obama’s slogan, “Yes We Can,” and to Martin Luther King Jr., belief of a brighter tomorrow where equality shines in the face of resistance.

I can recall my mother telling me as a child many people may not like you just because of the color of your skin. She said some people would call me hateful name, and they did. She said they’d try to kill my spirit and attempt to make me feel as if I wasn’t good enough or as valuable as they felt they were (they tried), but she also told me that regardless of what anyone says, with God on my side, the only one who has the power to defeat or stop me from doing anything in life I want to do, was me. So with tears of joy I can only thank God for the wisdom He’s place in those who’ve trusted and never stop believing in Him and his awesome power.

It would be unfair and ignorant not to acknowledge and thank those who’ve opened their arms to there fellow brothers and sisters in love regardless of there race or background. We have so far to go but take a moment to look at the positive and see how far we’ve come.

Somewhere in that crowd my teenage daughter is tasting the sweetness of history and I tend to feel that because of this day, because of what God has allowed to transpire, and with God on our side new dreams will emerge.

Just A Man

As we watch media coverage of the up and coming inauguration of President Elect Obama, let us not forget that though he’s the nation’s president, he is in fact just a man. As many look to him to change the world and the way politics are handled. He’s just a man. Though he seems to have jumped in the water and speaks with confidence about his plans and ideas for the future. He’s just a man. He’s one voice capable of implementing a change for many. He realizes there will be resistance and people who’d rather fail and blame him than succeed with him. It’s my belief that the only way we, the people will truly see positive change is when we truly examine ourselves and began to work towards that change.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (King James Version)
14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The recipe for life and positive change is constantly set before us. We can not look for man to do what only God can do. One can change many but God can change all.

Prayer 004

Lord I thank you for granting me another day in this New Year. I thank you for your grace and mercy that watched over me, my loved ones, and friends up until this very hour. I thank you for your unfailing love. I thank you for your presence in my life and for your continued guidance. Lord I ask that you open the eyes of those who don’t know you. Put a desire for you in there hearts. Place the perfect labors in their path. Help me to be a witness to those you put in my path. Father wrap your loving arms around the sick and wounded. You know their needs, desires and ways in which they can be healed if it be your holy will. Lord I’m asking for special prayers for those who are in mourning. I ask that you whisper a word speaking to their hearts and mine in ways only you are able to provide comfort. I ask that you open my eye to the things you’d like me to see and ears to all you’d like me to hear. I ask that you strengthen me in this week realizing I am well able to complete all tasks you may set before me. You are a good God whose grace and mercy endures forever. Lord let me live my life pleasing you. Let me be one of the vessels in which you are pleased to do your work through. Forgive me for the times I have complained about one thing or another. Forgive me for the times I have done something that was not pleasing to you. Let your will be done in my life today and every day. You are the hope and strength of my life. In you I trust and depend. In Jesus name I pray.

Take a Break

In today’s society many of us work, work, work and rarely take anytime to rest or appreciate what we’ve accomplished in the week. We’re often wrapped up in activities that pertain to our job or someone else but never take a day to appreciate what we’ve accomplished. The only substantial rest we may get is when our heads hit the pillow for a few hours a night. Even the occasional extra day off we might take from our job it’s used to catch up on the things we weren’t able to accomplish during the work week.

The bible states God completed his day of creation on the six day. Though opinions on which day the Sabbath is observed differ the one thing we can say for sure is.… on the seventh day He rest, observing the work he had done, and was pleased. God took one day out of the week to rest and appreciate the fruit of His labor. I challenge you to do the same. I challenge you to observe the Sabbath, take the time to sit back and enjoy the fruit of your labor and bless the name of the Lord.

Prayer 003

Published by yolie under Weekly Prayer, prayer Edit This

Father I thank you for the opportunity to see a new day and a new year. I thank you for your unfailing love, continued guidance, and endless protection, and support. Lord I praise you for being the lifter of my head. I praise you because you are God all by yourself, the alpha and omega of life. Lord in this New Year I pray for an increase in the understanding and knowledge of you. Open my eyes to the fullness of you. I ask that my relationship with you get stronger as the days progress. Lord I ask that you open the eyes of those who don’t know you. I ask that you put the perfect labors in there path allowing them to be receptive to you and your healing power. Lord I ask that you be with those who’ve lost their jobs. Let them know that if their faith and trust is in you all is not lost. Strengthen them where they faith may have weakened. Remind them of your goodness, mercy and grace. You are a God who never fails. You are a God who makes ways out of no way. You are a God who uses the foolish things of this world to confuse the wise. Because you are God and there is nothing to hard or impossible for you. Lord I ask that you continue to be with the sick, lonely and those in need of your care. You know every need and desires and you are well able to care for them. And Father while you’re caring for the sick and afflicted I pray you will also heal your land. I ask you to go from state to state and country to country. You know the ills of this world. You know what’s needed to bring to about a positive change, a change that will last until you come for us. Help us to be a body obedient to your will and way. Help us to lose the selfish and greedy attitudes and be the loving, giving, compassionate and caring children you desire. Help us to be a nation that wants all of you and none of ourselves.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Thirst (pg 1)

…All who drink of this water will be thirsty again.
(John 4:13)

For you met me at the well ‘Give me a drink’ you said.
No bucket, no jug, not even your hands in position to catch a drink if poured.
How peculiar
How strange
You ask for a drink from me?
A Samaritan
A sinner
A woman
Then you say this water will cause me to thirst again..
Yet the water you can provide would cure my thirst until eternity?
Go get your husband you say
Husband I have not one, two, three….I will not say
But you know whether or not it’s the truth or a lie I speak?
You whom I’ve just met
A prophet you must be
For you say God is a spirit
who must be worship in spirit and in truth
How do you know these things?
No the Messiah is who you must be
For you say to me

…I who now speak with you am He. (John 4:26)

2009 Resolution

2009, thank God we made it. Though every day we’re alive and have the functioning of our limbs and clarity of mind is a blessing. There’s something about exiting one year and entering another many of us look forward to. The desire to do better, be better or just be among the living seems to bring great joy. We make resolutions and for the most part the importance is not in the resolution that may or may not be kept, but in the desire. As we think about new beginnings and the opportunity to improve ourselves. The strength of that desire in the beginning is one we can’t deny. Some succeed in their task and other fail but the common dominator of the individuals was the initial decision. It is my prayer that as Christians we surpass that common dominator and unite as holy acceptable vessels under Christ. That the initial decision to live our lives for Him will continuously be strengthened and the desire will never die.
