Thank you Lord for being the awesome father you are. Thanky you for being the one I am able to put my hope and trust in. Because of you Lord and your sacrifice on the cross I know with out a shawdow of a doubt I am loved. Thank you father for the love you have for me. Thank you for your constant forgiveness and for the compassion you have for me. Thank you father for never giving up on me and for the ability to be able to turn to for for guidance in every situation.
Lord open our eyes to areas within us that are not pleasing to you. Fill our hearts with a strong desire to please you in all we do. Teach us how to be as humble as you are. Teach us how to be as loving as you are and let us never stop seeking you and your face.
Wrap your loving arms around those in need of your touch. Be a comforter to those in need of comfort and a companion to the lonely. Be strength to the weak in heart, body and mind. Bring joy to those who have none and be a healer for the sick. Open the hearts and eyes of those who don’t know you putting a desire for you in there hearts. Let your desires rein in our lives and in this world.
In Jesus name I pray..Amen

Today is a historic and overwhelming day as many anxiously await the transition of power from our former president to our newly elected. Somewhere in that crowd my daughter stands united with many who never believed this day would come.
This day brings to life the power of a dreamer covered in prayer. For African Americans it speaks to President Obama’s slogan, “Yes We Can,” and to Martin Luther King Jr., belief of a brighter tomorrow where equality shines in the face of resistance.
I can recall my mother telling me as a child many people may not like you just because of the color of your skin. She said some people would call me hateful name, and they did. She said they’d try to kill my spirit and attempt to make me feel as if I wasn’t good enough or as valuable as they felt they were (they tried), but she also told me that regardless of what anyone says, with God on my side, the only one who has the power to defeat or stop me from doing anything in life I want to do, was me. So with tears of joy I can only thank God for the wisdom He’s place in those who’ve trusted and never stop believing in Him and his awesome power.
It would be unfair and ignorant not to acknowledge and thank those who’ve opened their arms to there fellow brothers and sisters in love regardless of there race or background. We have so far to go but take a moment to look at the positive and see how far we’ve come.
Somewhere in that crowd my teenage daughter is tasting the sweetness of history and I tend to feel that because of this day, because of what God has allowed to transpire, and with God on our side new dreams will emerge.

As we watch media coverage of the up and coming inauguration of President Elect Obama, let us not forget that though he’s the nation’s president, he is in fact just a man. As many look to him to change the world and the way politics are handled. He’s just a man. Though he seems to have jumped in the water and speaks with confidence about his plans and ideas for the future. He’s just a man. He’s one voice capable of implementing a change for many. He realizes there will be resistance and people who’d rather fail and blame him than succeed with him. It’s my belief that the only way we, the people will truly see positive change is when we truly examine ourselves and began to work towards that change.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (King James Version)
14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
The recipe for life and positive change is constantly set before us. We can not look for man to do what only God can do. One can change many but God can change all.

2009, thank God we made it. Though every day we’re alive and have the functioning of our limbs and clarity of mind is a blessing. There’s something about exiting one year and entering another many of us look forward to. The desire to do better, be better or just be among the living seems to bring great joy. We make resolutions and for the most part the importance is not in the resolution that may or may not be kept, but in the desire. As we think about new beginnings and the opportunity to improve ourselves. The strength of that desire in the beginning is one we can’t deny. Some succeed in their task and other fail but the common dominator of the individuals was the initial decision. It is my prayer that as Christians we surpass that common dominator and unite as holy acceptable vessels under Christ. That the initial decision to live our lives for Him will continuously be strengthened and the desire will never die.
